Marvel Comics #1 (Timely, 1939) CGC VF- 7.5 White pages. One of the finest known copies of an issue that rarely is found in nicer than mid-grade condition. Excepting the Windy City Copy we offered in 2019, this is the finest copy we've auctioned in over 12 years! And its white pages surpass the quality of even the Windy City's; in fact, no other CGC-certified copy to date has been noted as having white pages! The significance of the first Timely comic book - the forebear of all things Marvel -- cannot be overstated. It gave us the first appearances of the Human Torch, Ka-Zar, the Angel, Jungle Terror, and Masked Raider, as well as the origin and first newsstand appearance of the Sub-Mariner. It's currently tied at #4 on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics. Science Fiction/Pulp artist Frank R. Paul Art provided the iconic cover, with interior story art by the famed Timely Golden Age trio of Carl Burgos, Bill Everett, and Paul Gustavson. Overstreet 2022 VF 8.0 value = $339,000.
