Mad #1 Mile High pedigree (EC, 1952) CGC GD/VG 3.0 White pages. In the same way that EC influenced future comic creators, Mad influenced everyone else, from stand-up comedians to novelists to filmmakers! Its irreverent humor and biting satire may have gone against the grain in the 1950s, but in later years it became apparent how deeply the magazine permeated society. Today, it's hard to imagine a world that took itself as seriously as it did in 1952. Even though this copy comes from the Mile High collection, it appears to have sustained some significant wear, including long creases and some soiling to the back cover. Edgar Church must have really enjoyed reading this one! Overstreet 2002 GD 2.0 value = $520; FN 6.0 value = $1,560.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
