Mad #1 (EC, 1952) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Cream to off-white pages. Here it is, the cultural time-bomb that would level the playing field for comic books, and satire in general. After this ten-cent masterpiece, no one would think of comics the same way again, although this format would soon shift to magazines and paperback-book collections. Who would have thought that Harvey Kurtzman, known primarily for his excellent series of realistic war comics and highly stylized science-fiction stories, had this in him? Thankfully, publisher Bill Gaines knew, and we are all grateful for the results of his insight. This historic debut contains art by Wally Wood, Bill Elder, Jack Davis, and John Severin behind that nutty Kurtzman cover. Overstreet 2004 VG 4.0 value = $1,000; FN 6.0 value = $1,500. CGC census 1/05: 11 in 5.0, 62 higher.

Jared, you and Heritage treated me more than just regarded my comic book pages with more than admiration.
