    Description

Mad #1 (EC, 1952) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white pages. The first satire comic book, Mad #1 was also one of the most influential comics of all time... and one of the funniest. Harvey Kurtzman's cover got the title off to a great start and also started the obsession with the name Melvin that would continue for many an issue. Publisher Gaines was known for assembling the best artists available, and he certainly did so here, with Wally Wood, Jack Davis, Bill Elder, and John Severin contributing. Overstreet 2004 FN 6.0 value = $1,500; VF 8.0 value = $3,500.
