Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Comics #1-12 Bound Volume (Dell, 1941-42). This stunning volume features Western Publishing file copies of the first 12 issues of the long-running series. Included are Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies #1 (first comic book appearances of Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Mary Jane and Sniffles, and Pat Patsy and Pete, plus a Bugs Bunny story by early Mickey Mouse artist Win Smith), 2, 3 (Kandi the Cave Kid by Walt Kelly begins), 4 (Kelly art), 5 (Bugs Bunny the Super-Duper Rabbit -- the first funny animal super hero), 6, 7, 8, 9 (painted cover), 10 (flag cover), 11, and 12. The comics have been trimmed and bound into a dark blue hardcover volume with "Looney Tunes Issue 1-12" embossed in gold on the spine. Issues #5, 6, 8, and 11 feature Walt Kelly art. The comic covers are glossy and full of original color. There is some mild tanning to the pages along the edges. Please note, all of the comics have been trimmed in the binding process, as is customary for bound comic volumes. The binding is in nice, secure condition with no bumping or fraying to the corners.
