Century of Comics #1 (Eastern Color, 1933) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Cream to off-white pages. This scarce book almost never shows up for sale; Gerber rated it a 7 on the Scarcity Index in his Photo-Journal, but 8 probably would have been more accurate on this rare piece. In fact, Century of Comics is so rare in high grade that the Overstreet Price Guide doesn't even list a NM 9.4 price. It was the third comic ever printed, and was originally given away as a premium by companies such as Wheatena, Milk-O-Malt, John Wanamaker, Kinney Shoe Stores and others. The contents include Joe Palooka and Mutt and Jeff reprints. Overstreet 2002 FN 6.0 value = $11,000; VF 8.0 value = $22,000.
