Archie #3 (Archie, 1943) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white pages. Both Overstreet and Gerber call this issue "scarce." And as early in Riverdale history as it is, the familiar theme was already established: how's Archie going to choose between vivacious Veronica and beauteous Betty? Jughead offers as much help as ever, which is to say none. The cover and interior art are by Harry Sahle (Archie's creator Bob Montana chips in with a one-pager). This is by far the highest-graded copy of the issue that CGC has certified, with the runner-up two full grades behind at 5.0. Overstreet 2004 FN 6.0 value = $744; VF 8.0 value = $1,550. CGC census 12/04: 1 in 7.0, none higher.
