Description

Suspense Comics #1 (Continental Magazines, 1943) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Extensive (P) Off-white pages. We've actually seen fewer copies of this than of #3, no wonder this first issue is a Gerber "8"! The bondage/torture cover has much in common with the famous cover of issue #3, you could almost call it a prototype for the later cover. It's by Charles Quinlan of Catman fame, and there are seven pages of interior art by the masterful L. B. Cole. While the identity of the first horror comic book is a matter of some debate, we'd say this issue deserves to be included in the discussion. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, reinforced, re-glossed. (Bottom edge of cover trimmed)." Overstreet 2007 GD 2.0 value = $375; VG 4.0 value = $750.
