    Description

Four Color #178 Donald Duck - Rockford Pedigree (Dell, 1947) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages. The Disney Ducks are some of the most beloved of all of Disney's characters, so when a new duck was introduced in 1942 it was a very big deal. And this copy is a very big deal too, being the single highest-graded copy of the issue. This was the very first appearance of miserly but adventurous Uncle Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck's billionaire Uncle. Donald stars in the classic story "Christmas on Bear Mountain". Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Dumbo also make appearances. Carl Barks, "The Good Duck Artist", wrote the cover story and drew the art. Dan Gormley drew the cover. Overstreet 2020 NM- 9.2 value = $4,100. CGC census 6/21: 1 in 9.6, none higher.
