    Description

Detective Comics #48 (DC, 1941) CGC FN 6.0 Off-white pages. The first use of the word "Batmobile" was right here in this issue! This is such an early story that the vehicle in question was still a red roadster, by the way. And while Gotham City had been mentioned in Batman before, this issue marks the first time it was called by name in Detective. Bob Kane, Jerry Robinson, and George Roussos teamed up on both the cover and story art. Overstreet 2006 FN 6.0 value = $723. CGC census 1/06: 1 in 6.0, 7 higher. From the Collection of Harold Curtis.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
