    Description

Detective Comics #35 (DC, 1940) CGC VF- 7.5 Cream to off-white pages. High grade copies of this desirable issue are practically non-existent. Just one other copy (a VF+ 8.5) has been certified nicer than our offering here. It's certainly the best copy we have ever sold, and we've had ones from pedigree collections like the Davis Crippen "D" Copies, the Billy Wright Collection, and the Lamont Larson pedigree. The fifth Batman cover is considered the best by many collectors. The hypodermic needle cover by Bob Kane is a classic. The issue is currently ranked #21 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list, and climbing the charts at a rate that could find it as high as #15 within the next few years. Besides the classic cover, Overstreet cites the "classic" splash page of Batman holding a smoking gun. Interior art by Kane and Fred Guardineer. Overstreet 2016 VF 8.0 value = $70,000. CGC census 2/17: 1 in 7.5, 1 higher.
