Detective Comics #35 (DC, 1940) CGC FN+ 6.5 Cream to off-white pages. Overstreet gives this issue double "classic" citations. Bob Kane's hypodermic needle cover is a shoo-in, but did you know about the interior splash panel showing Batman holding a smoking gun? Dark Knight, indeed! Besides being in great demand by collectors, the issue is nigh non-existent in higher grades; in fact, this is a higher grade -- CGC has certified just one other copy nicer. Batman had appeared on four issues between #27 and 33, but with this issue he would take over the cover spotlight for good. Kane and Fred Guardineer provided interior art. Overstreet 2012 FN 6.0 value = $9,800; VF 8.0 value = $24,500. CGC census 7/12: 2 in 6.5, 1 higher. From the Empire Comics Collection.
