Detective Comics #31 Trimmed (DC, 1939) CGC Apparent FN+ 6.5 Moderate (P) Off-white to white pages. The single greatest cover of the Golden Age according to a Heritage/CGC poll from earlier this year. The classic Bob Kane cover has been paid homage to, or swiped many times, most notably by Neal Adams, for the cover of Batman #227. This key issue includes the very first appearances of the Batplane, the Batarang, Julie Madison, and of Batman's first super-powered foe, the Monk, a vampire who wears a red, monk-like outfit, with a hood that bears a skull and crossbones... that's him on the cover, carrying the damsel in distress. A Slam Bradley story by Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster is also inside. Currently issue #31 sits at the #10 spot on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, reinforced, staples cleaned. (All 3 Edges Trimmed)". Includes a Colonel Collection COA. Overstreet 2016 GD 2.0 value = $20,000; VG 4.0 value = $40,000; FN 6.0 value = $60,000. From the Colonel Collection.
