    Description

Detective Comics #31 (DC, 1939) CGC FR/GD 1.5 Cream to off-white pages. This classic-cover issue has cracked the top ten of Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list. And no wonder -- everyone seems to be looking for a blue-label copy, and nobody who owns one seems to have any inclination to sell. And even though the Guide value has recently increased, we still find it a tad bit conservative. For comparison's sake, a blue label FR (1.0, with spine split and detached cover and first wrap) copy sold for $19,120 at Heritage in November of 2014. The issue includes the first appearances of the Batplane and the Batarang, and also the Monk, Batman's first super-powered foe. The cover art is by Bob Kane. CGC notes, "Tape on interior cover." Overstreet 2019 GD 2.0 value = $30,100. CGC census 3/20: 6 in 1.5, 35 higher.
