Detective Comics #27 (DC, 1939) CGC Apparent VF- 7.5 Extensive (A-5) Off-white pages. This monumental issue touts "The Amazing and Unique Adventures of The Batman!" but it seems that DC didn't quite realize the significance of Batman's first appearance -- the announcement is dwarfed by the giant logo of the classic title. Today, of course, this comic book is the second most valuable of all, after Superman's debut in Action Comics #1.
A few restored copies of Action #1 have broken the $100,000 mark, in Heritage auctions, and this copy of Tec #27 could be the second restored copy of #27 to reach that level, so place an appropriate bid on this attractive book while you still can!
The classic cover is by Bob Kane. For those unfamiliar with the term leaf casting mentioned below, we'll note that this is a method of filling in the missing paper on a cover or page that has missing pieces. Also, in CGC's new grading scale the "A" above refers to the quality of the restoration being "excellent." CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, leaf casting, tear seals, cleaned, reinforced. (Back Cover Married)". Overstreet 2014 GD 2.0 value = $100,000; VG 4.0 value = $200,000; FN 6.0 value = $300,000; VF 8.0 value = $750,000.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
