    Description

Detective Comics #27 (DC, 1939) CGC Apparent FN/VF 7.0 Moderate (A) Off-white to white pages. The very first appearance of Batman -- is there any comic book collector on the planet that doesn't know about this iconic book? After the historic auction of the Pinnacle Hill copy in February, 2010, this particular issue of Detective Comics was on just about everyone's mind, as the news of a comic book sale surpassing the million dollar mark for the first time made headlines around the globe. That copy was an unrestored beauty, while the one offered in this auction features moderate professional restoration; still, this is a real eye-catcher, with luscious cover colors and overall solid, pleasing appearance. If a nice-looking example of this comic is on your want list, but you don't feel ready to shell out seven figures for an unrestored copy (if you can find one, that is), then this should be your happy compromise. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, piece added, tear seals, cover cleaned, interior lightened, reinforced (centerfold trimmed)." Overstreet 2009 GD 2.0 value = $37.000; VG 4.0 value = $74,000; FN 6.0 value = $111,000; VF 8.0 value = $240,000. From the Dr. Mark Miller Collection.
