Detective Comics #11 Davis Crippen ("D" Copy) pedigree (DC, 1938) Condition: FR/GD. The pre-Batman issues can be real challenges to find. This is just the second copy of #11 that we have offered over the past 18 months. Classy Creig Flessel was the cover artist, and he also contributed story art, along with Superman co-creator Joe Shuster. This may be the very first comic book Davis Crippen set aside. We know he started collecting in 1938, the same year this issue was published, and pencil notations on the first page suggest he may have started with this copy (there are some pre-1938 comics in the collection that were bought secondhand). This one's well-worn. Tape has been used to reinforce the spine, and there are chips out of both front and back covers. But when was the last time you had the chance to nab a complete copy of this issue? Overstreet 2006 GD 2.0 value = $525. From the Crippen Collection.
