Detective Comics #14 Billy Wright pedigree (DC, 1938) CGC FN 6.0 Off-white to white pages. Here's how tough mid- to high-grade copies of this issue are: in 2001 we sold the lone 7.0 copy (in the very early days of CGC and its census), and in the ensuing 10 years no copy has come along to top it. This one comes close at least, and collectors of pre-hero Detectives have been waiting a long time for a copy this nice. Creig Flessel cover art. Overstreet 2012 FN 6.0 value = $2,400. CGC census 11/12: 1 in 6.0, 3 higher.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
