    Description

Classics Illustrated #43 Great Expectations -- Original Edition (Gilberton, 1947) CGC FN 6.0 Off-white to white pages. Used in Seduction of the Innocent, with Fredric Wertham noting, "The first eight pictures of this comic book show an evil-looking man with a big knife held like a dagger threatening a child who says "Oh, don't cut my throat, sir!" Am I correct in classifying this as a crime comic? Or should I accept it as what it pretends to be - Dickens' Great Expectations?" This controversial aspect is the reason that this issue was only reprinted once, not over and over like other Classics. This copy is a first printing. Bondage cover and art by H. C. Kiefer. Overstreet 2005 FN 6.0 value = $267. CGC census 1/06: 1 in 6.0, 2 higher.
