    Description

Captain America Comics #1 (Timely, 1941) CBCS Restored VF+ 8.5 Moderate (P) Off-white pages. One of the most famous comic covers of all time combines with the origin and first appearance of the title character to make this the #7 book on Overstreet's ranking of the Top 100 Golden Age Comics (and behind only Marvel Comics #1 in the Timely department). There's no villain quite as evil as Adolf Hitler, of course, but in the fiction department you can't get much more fiendish than the Red Skull, who also debuts here. And don't forget Cap's loyal sidekick Bucky Barnes who also appears inside, no doubt, in trouble. The creative geniuses Joe Simon and Jack Kirby drew the origin story, while the cover is a solo effort by Kirby. CBCS notes, "Professional Restoration includes: Small amount of color touch & pieces added to cover, cover & centerfold reinforced, spine splits sealed, tear seals, cover & interior cleaned" Overstreet 2016 GD 2.0 value = $15,000; VG 4.0 value = $30,000; FN 6.0 value = $45,000; VF 8.0 value = $105,000.
