Batman #61 (DC, 1950) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white to white pages. Beautiful cover colors suggest a higher grade, but a closer look reveals signs of overall wear that keeps the grade just under "high grade". But then, early '50s DCs are hard to find in higher grade! The issue has the origin of Batplane II, an appearance by the Penguin, and a full-page ad for Tomahawk #1. Win Mortimer did the cover, with Bob Kane and Dick Sprang doing interior art. Overstreet 2006 FN 6.0 value = $261; VF 8.0 value = $544. CGC census 3/07: 1 in 7.0, 4 higher. From the Warren Hall Collection.
