    Description

Batman #1 (DC, 1940) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Off-white to white pages. Swinging into action for the first time, in their own title, the Dynamic Duo cut striking figures as they whip across the (soon to be named Gotham) skyline. One of the most desirable comic books in the hobby, and currently #6 on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comic Books list, this seminal first issue features the first appearances of the Joker and the Cat (also soon to be named Catwoman). Hugo Strange makes an appearance, with Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson providing the classic cover and interior art.
This copy, with bright cover inks and nice centering, has extremely nice page quality, and note that to date, just 18 unrestored copies have been certified by CGC with a higher grade. The finest copy of #1 that we have seen in more than a year. Overstreet 2014 VG 4.0 value = $44,000; FN 6.0 value = $66,000. CGC census 11/14: 6 in 5.0, 18 higher. From the Prospect Mountain Collection.
