Batman #1 (DC, 1940) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white to white pages. High-grade copies of this iconic issue haven't changed hands all that often in recent years, and that just adds to the allure, not to mention the demand for and value of the book. The most recent auction record of a CGC-graded copy in this grade was in 2013, when the book realized nearly $120,000. It will go for more now -- much more -- if recent sales of lesser-graded copies are an indicator. One in CGC GD 2.5 realized $80,000 earlier this year; and one in CGC VG- 3.5 realized $143,400 in our own February, 2017 auction. In our November, 2016 auction a FN- 5.5 copy brought $239,000. The issue is currently ranked #5 in value on Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics, but that could change within the near future, as it chases down the current #4 -- All-American Comics #16. Batman's own title followed a year after his first appearance in Detective Comics #27, and has the first appearances of the Joker and the Cat (aka Catwoman). Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson combined for the classic cover and art. Overstreet 2017 FN 6.0 value = $120,000; VF 8.0 value = $270,000. CGC census 2/18: 3 in 7.0, 13 higher.View the certification for CGC Certification ID 1295183001 and purchase grader's notes if available.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.View More Testimonials
