Batman #1 (DC, 1940) CGC FN- 5.5 Cream to off-white pages. We're proud to present a fresh-to-the-market copy that has never before been offered for sale. And perhaps we should begin by catching you up on the most recent Heritage auction results for this issue: a FN/VF 7.0 copy sold for $334,600 and a CGC VG- 3.5 copy brought $143,400, both in our February 2018 event.
Overstreet ranks this as one of the five most valuable comics in the hobby, and among the reasons for that are that it has the first appearances of both the Joker and Catwoman. The Joker in particular has had a strong popular culture presence lately, and if rumors are to be believed, there is even a solo movie feature for him in development. Of course, Catwoman got her solo feature a long time ago and it certainly seems possible we'll see her again soon.
Always worthy of note is the Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson cover, one of the most famous covers in the hobby, and of course the fact that this title ran for more than 70 years. Overstreet 2017 FN 6.0 value = $120,000. CGC census 5/18: 3 in 5.5, 22 higher.
