    Avenger #1 (Magazine Enterprises, 1955) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Cream to off-white pages. 1955 wasn't the right time for introducing new superheroes, unless your name was John Jones (J'onn J'onnz to you Martians) and this title managed only four issues. The Avenger had the right idea though, namely fighting those pesky "Commies" of the Cold War days. Bob Powell did give the title credibility with his usual sharp cover and story art. This is the only copy of the issue that CGC has graded to date, and could be the nicest copy anywhere. Overstreet 2003 VF/NM 9.0 value = $315; NM 9.4 value = $400.
