Movie Comics #1 Carson City Pedigree (DC, 1939) CGC NM+ 9.6 Off-white to white pages. This is the top copy on CGC's census, as well as one of nine with a grade from them above FN/VF 7.0. It's also the highest-graded copy we've encountered to date. Its unique concept centers on stories told with movie stills, including Son of Frankenstein, Gunga Din, The Great Man Votes, and others. Featured stars include Basil Rathbone, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., John Barrymore, and Jackie Cooper. Art by Harry Lampert. Both Overstreet and The Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books lists this issue as "scarce". Overstreet 2024 NM- 9.2 value = $6,400. CGC census 8/25: 1 in 9.6, none higher.
