Congo Bill #1 (DC, 1954) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Off-white to white pages. Gerber calls this book "scarce," and Overstreet uses the same term, noting, "rarely found in fine to mint condition," all of which explains why this VG/FN specimen is the highest graded copy CGC has certified as of this writing. Two eye-catchers are the gorilla cover (a DC Silver Age trademark), and a gorgeous lady (a Nick Cardy trademark). And let's not forget our pith-helmeted hero, whose adventures inside the comic were drawn by Cardy as well. Overstreet 2004 VG 4.0 value = $262; FN 6.0 value = $393.
