    Action Comics #23 Trimmed (DC, 1940) CGC Apparent FN+ 6.5 Moderate (B-3) Off-white pages. This issue featured a bevy of "firsts" -- the first appearance of super-villain Lex Luthor (who appears with red hair!), the first mention of the Daily Planet, and the first appearance of the Black Pirate -- har! The book is currently tied for #43 on Overstreet's list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics. Joe Shuster provided the Superman cover and interior art and Sheldon Moldoff, Bernard Baily, and Fred Guardineer added interior art. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, reinforced" and "Top Edge Trimmed". Overstreet 2019 GD 2.0 value = $4,375; VG 4.0 value = $8,750; FN 6.0 value = $13,125.
