Description

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas Grinch and Cindy-Lou Who Production Cel Pair Signed by Chuck Jones (MGM, 1966). "He turned around fast, and he saw a small Who! Little Cindy-Lou Who, who was no more than two." You can practically see the Grinch's grinchy mind at work thinking up a believable bluff for little Cindy-Lou Who in this surprised pair of production cels from the holiday classic Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas one of which is hand-signed by the special's producer and director the legendary Chuck Jones (1912 - 2002). Jones spent much of the 1960s in partnership with MGM, during which he produced and directed this memorable 1966 holiday TV special that featured a screenplay by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel with the Grinch voiced by Boris Karloff and Cindy-Lou voiced by June Foray. This utterly iconic scene can be spotted near the 14:27 as the young Who wanders in on the Grinch's devious thievery plot. Both 12 field cels feature characters hand-painted to three-quarters figures with the Grinch standing at 8.25" tall while Cindy-Lou measures 5.5" beside him and 6.75" on her own. Please note both cels include professional recreation overlays by Linda Jones Entertainment made using original production materials to complete their images; production-used layers include the Grinch's head on the left cel and Cindy-Lou's head with her antenna and mouth plus the ornament hook on the right cel. The Grinch's cel has been hand-signed by Jones while Cindy-Lou's cel includes an estate plate signature with both pieces bearing a Linda Jones seal in opposite corners; a Linda Jones CoA joins the lot. The cels have been paired with print backgrounds for display and framed together under Plexiglas to an overall size of 34" x 18" with twin apertures of 11.5" x 9". All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. With typical handling and edge wear including small areas of linework fading/wear, overall this memorable pair is in Very Good condition.
