    Description

All-Star Western #11 (DC, 1972) CGC NM+ 9.6 White pages. Jonah Hex makes his second appearance in this issue. Though he did appear shrouded in shadow on the previous issue's cover, here his face is seen on a cover for the first time. That's notable in itself, as the disfigured part of his visage was only shown once or twice per story in Hex's early appearances. Hex is portrayed by underrated artists Nestor Redondo (cover) and Tony DeZuniga (story), while the book's other stories are drawn by fan favorites Carmine Infantino, Gray Morrow, and Nick Cardy. This is the highest grade that CGC has assigned for this issue to date. Overstreet 2004 NM- 9.2 value = $230.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
