X-Men #94 (Marvel, 1975) CGC NM/MT 9.8 White pages. The X-Men are hotter than ever, with numerous film and TV projects expected over the next few years, making this key book an increasingly hot commodity. That goes doubly so for copies in this exceptionally high grade, given that there are fewer than 50 such copies out of the more than 10,000 currently certified by CGC, and none higher. NM/MT copies have sold for as much as $66,000 within the past two years.This issue is notable for several reasons: It marks the first original story after five years of publication featuring reprinted tales. It features the second appearances of Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm, Banshee, and Thunderbird following their debut in Giant-Size X-Men #1. Angel, Marvel Girl, and Iceman resign, and Sunfire leaves the group as well. The dramatic story is by Chris Claremont, the first of his original 16-year run that effectively rebooted a second-tier series and turned it into a pop culture juggernaut. The cover is by Gil Kane and Dave Cockrum, with story art by Cockrum. It is currently tied at #12 on Overstreet's list of Top 25 Bronze Age Comics and likely to rise over time. Overstreet 2024 NM- 9.2 value = $2,800. CGC census 12/24: 48 in 9.8, none higher.
