    Description

Batman #227 (DC, 1970) CGC NM/MT 9.8 Off-white to white pages. In many ways, the early years of the Bronze Age were like a new Golden Age of comics. Collectors were increasingly aware of those great old 1930s and '40s comics that had come before, and current artists were paying proper respect to the older style, while at the same time adding their own unique vision. Case in point is this Neal Adams classic cover homage to Detective Comics #31, featuring a phantom-like Batman towering over the action below. This stunning 9.8 copy belongs in any serious collection of comics from this much-loved period. CGC notes this issue as containing hanging panels; Irv Novick, Dick Giordano, and Mike Esposito handled the story art, including a Robin solo adventure. Overstreet 2011 NM- 9.2 value = $250. CGC census 2/12: 4 in 9.8, none higher.
