    Description

House of Secrets #92 (DC, 1971) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white pages. The most valuable DC comic of the Bronze Age doesn't star Superman, Batman, or any other costumed superguy -- rather, it's this issue, the horror-drenched first appearance of Swamp Thing. Fans of the character will want to check out this fascinating early version: Swamp Thing's name (Alex Olsen), era (19th century) and origin story were all a bit different than in later years. But the personality of this tragic figure, created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson, struck a chord from the start, that's why the character quickly got his own book. Since these comics weren't as widely collected as the superhero books, this issue is harder to get your hands on than the more mainstream DCs. Only six copies of this issue have been certified with a higher grade by CGC to date. Overstreet 2004 NM- 9.2 value = $800.
