American Splendor #2-4 Group (Harvey Pekar, 1977-79) Condition: Average NM. The foremost proponent of the "slice of life" comic has been Harvey Pekar, who produced this magazine on his own for years before the public finally caught up with him, via the "American Splendor" movie. These three early issues feature great stories of everyday life, illustrated by artists like Robert Crumb (a personal friend of Pekar's for years) and Michael Gilbert. Issue #4 is the real prize in this lot, featuring a terrific cover and story about Pekar's record collecting days, drawn by Crumb.
