    W. Olaf Stapledon Last and First Men First American Edition (Jonathan Cape & Harrison Smith, 1931). A first American edition, first binding cased in medium purple cloth, with gilt lettering stamped on the spine panel. The top edge of the text block is stained black, Cover art by Arthur Hawkins. The original dust jacket is Fine+, and the book is Very Good, with light fading to the panels, and rubbing to the extremities. The author's first novel, and a must for any serious science fiction library.
