    Victor Rousseau The Messiah of The Cylinder First Edition (A. C. McClure, 1917). First edition, first printing, hardcover without dust jacket. Cased in dark green cloth, with upper board and spine lettered in gilt. Some darkening to the spine gilding. Some tanning a very minor foxing to the endpapers and paste-downs. Pages are clean and unmarked. A handsome copy of Victor Rousseau's magnum opus and an early American dystopian novel, written in response to H.G. Wells' 1899 novel When the Sleeper Wakes. Illustrated throughout on the frontispiece and ten plates, five of which are double-page spreads, by Joseph Clement Coll. In near-Fine condition.
