Inscribed "For Alice Conger -- compliments and best wishes of Clark Ashton Smith / Nov. 1st, 1944." on the front flyleaf. (Note: Conger was the secretary for publisher and author August Derleth.) Listed as #8 on Arkham House Books: A Collector's Guide's list of the 35 most valuable Arkham editions, and #21 on their list of scarcity. In Very Fine condition verging on As New, with a Very Fine dust jacket. Arkham House Books value for Fine copy = $1,000.From the Gary Munson Collection.
