Octavo (8.125 x 5.5 inches, 207 x 140 mm.). 188, [4, blank] pages. Publisher's full red cloth, spine lettered in yellow; top and bottom edges of the text block trimmed, fore-edge rough-trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends very softly pushed; top corners tapped; extremities very lightly worn; boards with some extensive insect damage, causing areas of cosmetic scuffing, but free of any structural damage. Front endpapers with just a few instances of trivial spot soiling. Dust jacket brown ink a little faded on the spine panel; edges, particularly the spine ends, and front flap fold very lightly worn with a short, soft crease along the bottom of the front panel; verso tanned, likely offset from an old jacket protector (since replaced). A sharp, attractive copy; very good in a near fine jacket. Pringle, The Ultimate Guide to Science Fiction; Pringle, Science Fiction: The 100 Best Novels, 23; Barron, Anatomy of Wonder (1987), 3-198; Currey, p. 191. Oswald Train's copy with his bookplate, designed by Virgil Finlay, on the front free endpaper.
