    More Information: Lester del Rey. Nerves. New York: Ballantine Books, 1956. First edition. Octavo. [6], 153, [1] pages. Publisher's full lavender cloth, spine lettered in blue. Original illustrated dust jacket. All edges trimmed. Minimal shelf wear at extremities of binding; slight unevenness to backstrip, with bottom end of spine pushed. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block, due to poor paper stock; dampstain and speckling to top edge. Uneven toning to endpapers; persistent tidemark at top margin of pages toward end of text block. General light toning to jacket; mild edge wear, most noticeable at spine and flap fold ends; a bit of rubbing to exposed panels; faint tidemark at head of rear flap fold; flaps clipped. Some very faint speckling at verso. About near fine. Del Rey's wife, a prominent science fiction editor at Ballantine, went on to found Del Rey Books, Ballantine's fantasy and science fiction imprint. From the Glynn and Suzanne Crain Collection.
