    More Information:

Jules Verne. Ticket No. "9672." Chicago: M. A. Donohue & Co, [1886?]. Early U. S. edition. Octavo. 161, [1, blank], [145]-192, [111]-155, [3, ads], [2] pages (note: endpapers included in pagination). Publisher's full green cloth, spine and front decorated in brown, blue, and tan, spine lettered in gilt and front in white; all edges trimmed. Spine leaning; spine ends pushed and worn with loss to lettering at foot, general dulling with brown stain running length of backstrip, some loss to color decorations; boards lightly rubbed with some mild soiling and drips of damp staining; moderate wear and bumping to edges and corners of boards. Edges and interior of text block rather browned, shallow insect damage to top and bottom edges, top edge darkened, small brown stain at bottom edge toward spine; evidence of previous dog-earing scattered throughout; tear extending most of the way up pages 53-54, closed by three small pieces of cloth tape, now offsetting onto facing pages; spine split between pages 160 and 161, but still sound. Very good. Also contains a selection of stories: "The Duc De L'Omelette" (pp. 145-148), "The Oblong Box" (pp. 149-159), "King Pest" (pp. 160-171), "Three Sundays in a Week" (pp. 172-178), "The Devil in the Belfry" (pp. 179-186), "Lionizing" (pp. 187-192), "The Fall of the House of Usher" (pp. 111-128), "The Pit and the Pendulum" (pp. 129-142), "The Premature Burial" (pp. 143-155). From the Glynn and Suzanne Crain Collection.
