    Jules Verne. Hector Servadac. London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington, 1878. First English edition, translated by Ellen E. Frewer. Octavo. x, [2], 370, 24 pages. Frontispiece and 96 additional inserted plates. Publisher's full brown cloth, front and spine stamped in black and gilt, rear stamped in blind; all edges trimmed and gilt. Backstrip a touch dulled, healthy lean to spine, spine ends pushed, worn and fraying; slight rubbing to boards; a touch of shelf wear at edges; corners tapped and just starting to peek through cloth. A gathering or two toward middle of text block slightly sprung; a trace of rubbing at bottom corner; hinges splitting, partially repaired and still sound; bookseller's and binder's tickets at each pastedown; previous owner signatures at front free endpaper; marginal spot- and thumbsoiling scattered throughout. Publisher's full blue cloth, front and spine stamped in black, silver and gilt, rear stamped in blind; all edges trimmed. Slight lean to spine; spine ends pushed and a bit worn; light wear along joints; mild rubbing and soiling to boards; shelf wear at edges; corners tapped. Age darkening to edges of text block, with a handful of gatherings sprung throughout; trace of foxing to edges; front hinge starting to split at some point, mended with glue; occasional faint, marginal foxing scattered throughout.
