    Description

Jules Verne. From the Earth to the Moon. New York: 1874. First U. S. edition.

More Information: Jules Verne. From the Earth to the Moon. New York: Scribner, Armstrong & Company, 1874. First U. S. edition, translated by Louis Mercier and Eleanor E. King. Octavo. [2, blank], viii, 323, [3, blank] pages. Frontispiece and seventy-nine additional inserted plates. Publisher's full green cloth, spine and front decoratively stamped in black and gilt; all edges trimmed. Very slight skew to spine; spine ends pushed and worn, starting to fray with some loss to black stamping at either end; joints a touch worn; some rubbing, slight abrasions to boards; mild shelf wear at bottom edges; corners bumped and boards peeking. Text block edges dulled, top edge darkened, slight rubbing to bottom corner. Discoloration, possibly from rubbing, at endpapers; previous owner label at front pastedown; front hinge split, and rear splitting, but both still sound; fairly regular, mostly marginal foxing, spot-staining, and thumbsoiling scattered throughout; a couple of leaves over-opened at fore-edge. Very good. From the Glynn and Suzanne Crain Collection.
