    George Orwell. Nineteen Eighty-Four. London: Secker & Warburg, 1949. First edition. Octavo (7.25 x 4.875 inches; 184 x 124 mm.). 312 pages. Publisher's full light green cloth, spine lettered in red; all edges trimmed, top edge stained red; original illustrated dust jacket, green variant. Minimal shelf wear to binding; backstrip lightly sunned. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block. Fairly mild edge wear to jacket, with a bit of rumpling at spine and flap fold ends resulting in a tiny amount of paper loss; general rubbing to exposed panels of jacket; wear along joint and flap folds. Handful of tape reinforcements (now yellowed) at spine and flap fold ends of verso. Very nearly fine book in a very good jacket. Barron, Anatomy of Wonder, 3-302 ("Mentioning 1984 in SF area is like mentioning the Bible").
