Inscribed: "To Joseph Schaller / Dear Joe! -- / Five up and five away -- / you're strictly one of my favorite / people! As ever -- [--] / I s'pose I gotta be [--] here -- / Edward E. Smith, Ph. D." [Together with:] Galactic Patrol. Reading, Pennsylvania: Fantasy Press, 1950. First edition, limited to 5,000 copies, 500 of which were numbered and signed, this being number 66. Inscribed: "To Edward J. Davis III / Dear Ed! -- Five straight -- you're / strictly one of my favorite people! / As ever -- [--] / I s'pose I gotta be / [--] about this -- / Edward E. Smith, Ph. D." [And:] Gray Lensman. Reading, Pennsylvania: Fantasy Press, 1951. First edition. Inscribed: "To / my friend and fellow-[--] in the vineyard / Gerry de la Ree / Hey! Octavo. Various paginations. Frontispieces and decorated initials. Publisher's full light blue cloth, spines lettered and ruled in gilt; all edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jackets.

    Mild shelf wear at extremities of bindings; occasional area of slight discoloration to backstrips; some soft bumping to edges and corners; mild rubbing and spots of pale soiling to cloth. Normal, mild age toning to edges and interior of text block; spot or two of staining at edges; some slight discoloration. Previous owner bookplate in First Man; holograph correction initialed by Smith at margin of page 61 in Children; faint thumbsoiling scattered occasionally throughout text blocks at margins. First Lensman with two dust jackets, one of which is heavily worn, chipped, rubbed and discolored, with several large tape repairs at verso; Grey Lensman jacket price-clipped and a bit rubbed at exposed panels.
