Frontispiece and four additional plates by John Coleman Burroughs. Publisher's blue cloth, spine and front lettered in red; all text block edges trimmed, top edge stained red; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine discolored; spine ends rolled and worn, with some dark soiling; light wear along joints; fairly mild rubbing and soiling to boards; corners tapped with boards peeking through cloth. Text block yellowed; edges softened and soiled; lower corner bumped; marginal staining and spot-soiling scattered throughout interior. Jacket lightly worn at edges, particularly at spine and flap fold ends; some minor rubbing showing at rear panel. Good. Zeuschner, p. 466-467.

Binding fairly grubby, with wear visible at spine ends and along joints and board edges; bumping to a couple of corners. A bit of soiling and glue residue to endpapers, with evidence of labels removed from both front endpapers; ownership stamp at front free endpaper. Text block slightly yellowed; edges foxed and soiled, with a moderate amount of further foxing scattered throughout interior. Jacket rubbed with a bit of edge wear resulting in some rumpling along top edge; soft creasing to a couple of folds. Fair.
