Inscribed by the author's daughter on front free endpaper, "To / Bob Horvath / Best wishes / Joan Burroughs Pierce." Octavo. 317, [1, blank], [1, list of titles], [1, blank] pages. Frontispiece and four additional plates by John Coleman Burroughs. Publisher's blue cloth, spine and front stamped in red; top edge of text block trimmed and stained red; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends rolled and worn, with some additional wear along joints and board edges; two small bumps to rear board; corners tapped. Uneven age discoloration to endpapers. Text block softly dulled. Light wear along jacket edges, with a bit of nicking and chipping at spine ends; crease along vertical length of spine, with dark patches from tape residue at ends; some faint foxing at verso.
