Frontispiece and four additional inserted plates by John Coleman Burroughs. Publisher's blue cloth, spine and front lettered in red; top edge of text block trimmed and stained red; map endpapers; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends slightly pushed and showing a trace of wear; soiling along rear joint; mild wear along bottom edges of boards. Previous owner bookplate affixed to verso of front free endpaper. Minor wear along jacket edges and folds; two small pieces of clear tape reinforcing foot of spine panel and tiny nick at head of rear flap fold; soft diagonal crease to front flap. Very Good. With note from the publisher pasted in opposite half-title, reading: "This book is one of the few survivors of the near-disastrous fire that occurred in our storeroom on Saturday, May 3, 1958."
