Yogi Bear Yummy Tummy Stories Original Cover Art (Hanna-Barbera, 1961). The Golden Picture Stories book Yogi Bear Yummy Tummy Stories was published by Western Publishing in 1961 and was the second for Hanna-Barbera. This is the original cover art for the book which consists of a hand-painted gouache background with a clear acetate overlay containing the text. The artwork was created by acclaimed children's book illustrator, Mel Crawford (1925 - 2015) and bears his studio stamp on back as well as a handwritten submission date of 8/21/61. This prolific artist worked on projects from a variety of studios such as Disney and The Children's Television Workshop, but is best known for illustrating the Little Golden Book version of Dr. Seuss' Gerald McBoing Boing. The artwork featuring Yogi, Cindy, and Boo Boo measures approximately 9" x 12.5" on 14" x 17.75" illustration board. This is incredible one-of-a-kind art from Hanna-Barbera Studios' early efforts to extend their most popular character beyond his animated role. Both the illustration and overlay include printer and production notes. The cel exhibits creases, folds and edge wear. The board has small scratches scuffs and stains along the border from tape residue. Overall condition is Good.Auction Info
