Winsor McCay Gertie the Dinosaur Production Drawing (Winsor McCay , 1914). A stunning drawing from the pioneering animated short that was the first cartoon to really catch the public's attention and give birth to an industry. Gertie was animation's true first star and McCay famously drew each scene complete on paper before the use of acetate, nitrate, or any type of cels or background art. This is drawing #252, and it features Gertie rolling around by the shore. This is a great image of Gertie measuring over 6" from her tail to her nose. The artwork is in ink on rice paper, measuring approximately 8.75" x 6.5" and mounted on slightly larger piece of white board. In Excellent condition. Gertie the Dinosaur is currently listed as #6 on the 50 Greatest Cartoons list. This is a true piece of animation history.
