Wimmin is a Myskery Popeye Storyboard Drawings Group (Max Fleischer, 1940). Popeye and animation history fans take note this with lot! This is a complete set of 145 storyboards for the 81st Popeye cartoon, under the working title "Popeye's Kids." It was directed by Dave Fleischer and is noteworthy in that it introduced Popeye's nephews -- Pipeye, Peepeye, Poopeye, and Pupeye. In their first appearance, they are Popeye and Olive's kids in a dream Olive has after Popeye proposes to her. Jack Mercer did the voice of Popeye and all four nephews in this short. This black and white short was released on 6/7/40. It was written by comic strip artist Tack Knight (1895-1976) and future Warner Brothers Looney Tunes writer Tedd Pierce (here credited as "Ted"). Mr Pierce worked at Fleischer from 1939 until 1941. This is an extremely rare set of hand-drawn and hand-colored storyboards for this short. Each one is magnificently hand-colored in amazing detail. There are no numbers 28, 63, 64, 65. Panel #27 says go to #29 next; Panel #62 says go to #67 next. The colorful, detailed drawings are in graphite and color pencil; each 5" x 7" panel has pinholes in the corners. Out of 145 pages, only three have no artwork, they just read CROSS DISSOLVE. Many of these extremely detailed panels would retail individually in the $300 to $500 range. Minor handling and edge wear, Very Good to Fine condition overall. Finding a complete set of original storyboard artwork for a pre-WWII vintage Popeye cartoon is practically unheard of, but here it is!
